How important are Christmas cards to you and your family and does the 65c stamp price for sending Christmas cards help?

With the advent of electronic mail, electronic address lists and cards, it is obvious that the bulk use of the mail system to distribute cards at Christmas time and thus the income stream from this source will be reduced. Physical cards will still be sent but to a very select set of friends and acquaintances.Perhaps as a replacement source of income, Australia Post might be able to sell a service where customers give you a list of email addresses (via thumbnail and virus protection) and select a card from a range then you send them to addressees at a cost to the customer. Could also be done online electronically by selecting a card from a range of cards and adding the addresses and payment. Probably not difficult to allow customer to select an individual card from the range of cards for each addressee. Would need to be slightly cheaper than the traditional way to be attractive.

Hi jp30,Thank you for your suggestion. An electronic solution to sending Christmas cards is a great idea. We have already developed a similar online service for postcards. Postcards app: https://auspost.com.au/travel-id/postcards-app

My family has not sent a Christmas card via the post for many years. Whilst it is a wonderful tradition it is just not used by us anymore

Sending Christmas cards is a good practice, and one that Australia Post should be promoting more through schools and other forms of advertising. In particular, decreasing the price would help a lot too, especially for international post.
